Fireworks!

Kane County Flea Market was this past week-end and we were planning on one booth instead of two. In my picture you can see how I piled up fruit crates to allow more merchandise to be fit on the tables. That worked fine. As it turned out though we didn't need it. Because we gave up a booth we had an empty spot next to us and the jewelry mother and daughter who are usually next to us were a space away. Ben, the man in charge of our building, put new vendors, another mother and daughter pair, in the empty space. They were really nice. The duaghter asked me if they'd allowed enough space, should they move their tables, were their boxes in my way, etc. Really nice! Anyway, I went out to the van for more boxes and when I came back in I find the jewelry people had arrived and the jewelry mom is yelling at the new vendor mom about being in her space. I'd never heard her yell at anyone. The new vendor mom was trying to explain that they would be moving over a bit but she wasn't getting through to her. I didn't want to get involved and went back to the van for more boxes. When I came in this time the jewelry daughter was shrieking (yes, shrieking) at the new vendor daughter. She had touched her on the shoulder and the jewelry daughter went ballistic. "You grabbed me! You do not touch my body! I'm going to call the police!" Unbelievable. Meanwhile, Ben came by and asked us to slide our tables a couple of feet to the right. Not an easy feat since we had already set up merchandise on them. We did it though. A couple minutes later he came back and said that we wouldn't have to after all. We just left them where they were, waiting until the warfare next door ended. Then Ben told us that we'd have extra space. He was moving the new vendors to another area and the jewelry people and we would share the empty space. So much for trying out just one booth. I was telling this story to another dealer in another building and he pointed across his aisle to a booth and told me that the same thing had happened over there. Only this time the language got really rough too. It must have been something in the air.
